The number one thing to remember when planning your project is to allow yourself ample time to conceive of your idea, order all the necessary tiles and supplies and complete the installation. Whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer, or are hiring a professional installer and designer, the process is one that should be enjoyed. Rushing results in hasty decisions, so take a deep breath, slow down and have fun.
Here are a few points to consider:
· We try to keep the most common Glaze / Pattern combinations in stock. If we have your order already made on the shelf, it will usually be shipped the next business day. Larger orders and custom color orders take 3-5 weeks to complete.
· Order all your tiles at once. Because our glazes are mixed from raw materials straight from the earth, some natural glaze variation does exist from batch to batch. The tiles can be easily cut on a diamond wet saw, but if you are planning to cut, order a few extra.
· Think “contrast” when choosing field tile. You will NOT find any commercially made field tile which match our tile perfectly. Instead, try to find a field tile that is completely different. Think of granite rocks against the Mediterranean ocean or Aspen Bark and blue sky.
· Lighting! Just like a painting or work of fine art, lighting your tile installation can make all the difference. Because our tiles are glossy, they are best lit with soft light sources which reduce the number of highlights and hotspots reflecting off the tile surface.
